Custom Table and Chairs

Here are some photos of the chairs and table commissioned by Al and Angela. There were priceless IKEA artifacts that I transformed into tattered, but usable furniture.
I used milk paint and glaze with highlights of gold leaf. I found it extremely fun to do until I sneezed blue sawdust out my nose 2 days later.

Logo

I finally came up with a logo I am happy with. I think it will lend itself to some interesting ways to render it. Next will be business cards. Funny how business cards feel like a currency for a legitimate business. They are used as a formality or symbol that holds a place in some one's wallet or file.

Behind the times

Yes I am behind the times, but here it is finally! A little sampling of what I have been up to. Eventually I will get my actual website up and running and have a real gallery. This will do for now.

"Even Me", mixed media. This concerns my struggle with living up to cultural ideals.

"Angel Book", altered book, mixed media. I have many angels watching over me. Some are comforting, while others are not.

"Hanuman", mixed media. While living in India for a few months I learned many lessons from the brave monkey god.

Buy Handmade

http://buyhandmade.org/
Just came across this website and I love it. I have done a majority of handmade gifts for holidays ever since I can remember. Most of them are made by me. However, I like the handmade pledge. (I will try to get the pledge on the this site or my web page soon) If I can't make everything then I will buy only handmade things for gifts. One thing I do support is the giving of supplies to make things.
So if anyone does read this I challenge you and myself to give handmade things (or supplies to construct handmade things).

posTTaska

I have decided on posTTaska for my business name. It has a better ring to it and I don't have to explain what it means. I am now working on the tag line and logo. posTTaska: art objects after Taska. It's kind of funny and gets the point across. The logo will be something like a postmark. I will try to work on it this weekend, but I have a commission for a table and chairs. I am very excited about that!
I got my domain and now I have to construct the web page. I think I can sell on
www.etsy.com or something like that. It looks like a really cool way to get my jewelry seen. No matter how lousy things seem at least I am pulling this together.

Google it on up

I am still trying figure out how I get my name, Taska Sanford, or Taska's Mor to bring my blog to Google. Let's also go for Taska Eugenia Caroline Gage Sanford. I am quite disappointed my full name does not fit on my id.

The Impossible Color

My favorite color in whole wide world is the strange grey in the sky just before a storm. The ground is deep and green and the clouds are dense ready ooze. The humidity I think is key. There has to be a wind also because the colors are effected by the mood. It also take the sun sitting at just the right angle. I have tried to paint my bedroom this color several times. I just can't find the right color in pigment. Oh those enigmatic colors:light vs. pigment. Perhaps it will only work if it is about to rain in my room.

Understanding

I am reading The Diamond Age by Neil Stephenson and I am loving it. It was slow at first, and I was reminded of the Baroque Cycle. Those book were a little too much for me, but this one is the right mix. I read a passage about an "elegant" program. Travis has often spoken of "elegant" solutions. This time I got it. It was like the beauty of programming and hacking just unfurled in front of me. I think he needs to reach around inside and explore and pursue the path of elegance. He is so intelligent, reasonable(in the truest sense) and a creative thinker. I think this is the path to save ourselves from ourselves, and he could be a part of it.

Creation

Alright I have brought Taska's MOR back to life.

Coming soon art for your perusal.
